The most common New Year's message I heard the past few weeks was good riddance to 2020, which was my original reaction as well. What else can you do but demonize a year that brought so much death and unrest. But now I'm starting to read more thoughtful sentiments, avoiding an easy, cliched response and unpacking what the significance of 2020's events may truly be. How do you feel?
