
Thank you to everyone that participated in my informal poll about 2020 finally being in the rearview mirror. As promised, here are the results.
Answering what best described their emotions about 2020, 58% of those answering said they were optimistic. The second most common response was being relieved it was over (21%). There were a mix of responses from other participants that included feeling angry, and being concerned about the impact on business and employees.
The events from 2020 that people felt would have the biggest impact in 2021 were Covid (50%), politics (29%) and social unrest (14%). Other answers included the shift to working from home, and the federal debt.
Regarding personal goals, it appears people are trying to simplify their lives. Responses included
Practicing gratefulness.
Sold house. Moving to remote country location.
Personal development, prioritizing family, scaling down my life
Work on me
A lot less socializing and and more focused on immediate family and finding that "comfort zone".
Trying to not look too far out to the future but stay more purposeful in moment to minimize stress
Other responses included career (accelerating change, starting a new business), healthy habits, social commitment (consume less to reduce climate change) and finances (be more financially secure).
Improving/changing work habits were by far the most common professional goals mentioned. These answers included:

There were also answers that highlighted Social Awareness and Purpose:
Diversity and inclusion will be a focus of our work
Big garden. Build new greenhouse. Eliminate grocery store completely

Looking for more fulfilling work.
